CSAA Craftsperson Award Details
The Craftsperson Award celebrates the volunteer who excels in a particular schoolhouse project or projects. This award is for a person who willingly contributes to preserving America’s early school history at your site, not for hired craftsperson’s work. It recognizes the talent and skill that goes into their outstanding workmanship.
This award is for a volunteer involved in schoolhouse or artifact preservation or conservation who has demonstrated an ability to replicate, restore, refurbish, or refinish materials or artifacts adhering to as near original materials/techniques as possible. Examples include, but are not limited to: wood, metal, tin, plaster, slate, clothing, etc.
The CSAA Craftsperson Award is a one-time award of $300 given annually. Nominations will be accepted via the submission form below to the CSAA database late fall/early winter, with nominations due by January 31. Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee. Award winners will be announced in mid-April, and be presented at the CSAA conference in June.
