CSAA Service Award Details
There are currently hundreds of individuals who freely give of their time, talents, and funds to keep up and/or serve as docents, school marms and/or curators for country schools throughout the US and Canada. Two awards will be given annually by CSAA to honor these individuals. Each award will include a stipend of $300 which can go to the individual or the historical association of their local school house. Winners will also receive free registration to the annual conference the year the award is received.
Awardees will have demonstrated a longstanding support of their local school. For example, a person who has donated time each summer to have the school open each Sunday for over ten years. Another example would be a person who has donated time and talent to make repairs to the local school for over ten years, or a person who has served as the schoolmarm.
How the two (2) awards will be granted:
The first award will go to an individual that resides within 100 miles of the CSAA conference site held that year OR the previous year. The second award will go to an individual who resides at least 101 miles from the CSAA Conference site.
Nominations will be solicited via the submission form below to the CSAA database late fall/early winter, with nominations due by January 31. Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee.. Award winners will be announced in mid-April, grant a conference voucher, and present the stipend at the CSAA conference. CSAA will seek to publicize the awards and winners with media outlets associated with each winner in advance of the conference.
