DIXIE TINWORKS - 16 OZ. CUPS
Drink Up!
One might imagine that if you curate a schoolhouse for visitors you're always on the lookout for artifacts that will maintain the atmosphere of bygone school days. Water crocks on eBay run from between $100 and $500(!) plus postage, and not all of them fit the era or style that might have been used in your schoolhouse. The commonplace antique tin cup is also garnering hefty prices between $10 and $40 plus postage...each! Civil War re-enactors are our competition for supply and demand. Civil War tinsmiths can help us out.

If you can't find the cups you need and you're in the market for hand-made tin cups at a most reasonable price, we have a vendor to recommend to you! New cups may not evoke the nostalgia that the weathered models do, and you may prefer the rustier models, but these newly minted cups offer a pleasing alternative if you've searched quite enough.

A recent experience with a tinsmith on-line was rewarding for one curator who recommends the high quality and the workmanship of the 6 tin cups she purchased this month for her schoolhouse.

The vendors are Jim and Debbie Feavel of Dixie Tinworks, the product is "Tin Cup," and the link is provided at left. The current price is $8 per 16oz. cup and a bargain at that! They are beautifully crafted and the seller was also very good at communication and shipping.
Note: We do not know the vendors personally, but we sure appreciate the work and time put into their product! Read how they are constructed too.

The story of what went on inside that eminently successful country school is an important part of Americana. It should be preserved along with a few remaining buildings wherein the great cultural pageant took place."
